It is hard to believe that it is our third winter here in Wyoming. The time has passed by fast. So far it has been a real mild winter which is unusual for Wyoming. By now we should have had several good snowfalls but we have only had one. Poor Chris is going through snow withdrawl. This past week, the temps have been up in the 60s until today. We woke up to an inch of snow on the ground. It went from the 60s to the 20s in about 12 hours. Amazing. According to the weather forecasters, it is supposed to snow off and on all weekend long. I hope we get more than an inch. Chris wants to build a snowman. LOL!

I shouldn't have looked at the Weather Forecast on Weather.gov. They are calling for a possibility of snow on Friday night. I am not ready for winter to be here already.

We officially started school last week. This is our third year homeschooling Chris and David is doing some school work as well. Mom purchased a Spanish program that I am able to use for both boys. I also found a science book that I can use with both boys that focuses on the Body. It is hard to believe that Christopher is already in First Grade. The time is flying by too fast!

David claims that he wants to go to school. I have mixed feelings about it but I am willing to send him to school considering the school is small. There are only 90 students in K-6th grade at Carpenter Elementary. There are 12 students in the Kindergarten class. I know that he will get more individual attention than he would at most schools. Christopher is actually attending Carpenter Elementary part time. There is a law in Wyoming in which homeschoolers can attend the "specials" or extra curricular classes. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, Christopher attends the music class with the Kindergartners. He enjoys it and I have the satisfaction of knowing that he is learning something that would be hard for me to teach to him. He also had the option to participated in Spanish, Art, and PE. The other classes didn't work with our schedule. Chris is taking art through the Homeschool Co-op so I wasn't worried about that class either. Maybe next year he will be able to do Spanish besides the Music.

Ahhh! The sound of silence. Grant and the boys left for a camping trip this weekend so I have the house to myself. Yes! I am going to miss them but I am going to enjoy the time I have to myself. It is a good chance to get some work done around here and also a good chance to watch some movies that Grant isn't interested in seeing. It is also a good chance for Grant and the boys to spend some time together.

I hope Grant and the boys have fun. Unfortunately their adventure is going to be quite wet since it supposed to rain all weekend. I know several of you are thinking that you wouldn't camp in the rain. I am one of them. Grant is a diehard and rain isn't about to stop him. Papa (Grant's Dad) is driving up from Denver to join the group. They should have a good weekend. I know that fishing is part of the plan for tomorrow.

I am off to go watch the movie Dream Girls. I hope you all have a pleasant evening.

This summer is flying by too fast. Before I know it, Awana will be starting up and so will First Grade. It's hard to believe that Chris will be moving onto First Grade but he is ready.

Christopher hit a big milestone on July 30th. He lost his first tooth! He was quite excited.

Today I pulled out his second tooth. He is growing up too fast

In other news, Chris has started soccer already for the fall, although it is still summer. He is playing on an U6 team with the Cheyenne Soccer Association. The team decided to name themselves the Broncos. Chris told me he had fun at his first practice. It should be a good season for him.

Grant's alarm went off this morning. He turned it off and headed for the bathroom. Normally, at this point, I would roll over and go back to sleep until the boys wake up at 7am. That was not going to happen this time. Ricky, our puppy starts barking excitedly from inside his crate. Sara then joins him. I figured they needed to be let out for the day so they could do their business. Grant followed me thinking he was going to let them out instead. We get to the dining room and all of the sudden, Grant says "What in the World!". The dogs are still barking excitedly. I ask Grant what the problem is and he says "There is a horse in our backyard." In my blurry eyed state, I caught what looked like the form or a horse running in the backyard. I hadn't put my glasses on yet. Grant runs to get some shoes and a jacket and I did the same. Our plan was to drive the truck into the backyard so we could try to ID the horses. We got a look and discovered there were two horses in our backyard. We weren't sure who they belonged to since our neighbor's hoses across the street were still in their yard. It was still somewhat dark. We drove to see if one of the horses belonged to our grumpy horse. Nope not his! We then start to drive back to our house. I had suggested to Grant that we ask Tracy if she knew whose horses they were. She lives across the street. As we were pulling towards our driveway, I noticed someone walking towards us with brindles in hand. Turns out that the horses belonged to our neighbor Victoria who lives next door to Tracy. Victoria told us that they had escaped and decided that our yard looked great since it had a lot of grass. LOL! I got a free lawn mowing service from two horses last night. Victoria managed to gather up her horses and once they left the yard, we let the dogs out before they went nuts. We weren't about to let them spook the horses.

I woke up this morning to two inches of snow on the ground. Supposedly we could get up to 10 inches of snow. Where's Spring when you need it? Can you tell I am tired of the snow.

Poor David is running a fever. He also claims that his head hurts and his tummy as well. Let's hope it doesn't turn into the stomach flu. I hope he feels better soon!

It's finally starting to thaw here in Wyoming. Unfortunately, they are calling for snow tomorrow. When will it end?

In other news, we will be headed to the Sunshine State to see Erin graduate in May! Both Grant and I got our vacations approved. Woohoo! I will be enjoying the sun!

New Pet!

Some of you have heard that we have a new dog and others haven't. For those of you that don't know. We took Sassie to the animal shelter back in August. We tried for a whole year to get her to adapt but she just wouldn't. She was fine with Sara when food wasn't involved but when it came to food she would become aggressive. Last I heard the shelter was working on getting Sassie a new home!

We are now the proud owners of a puppy. I must admit that he is huge! He is 7 months old and I am guessing that he is about 60lbs. We will find out the correct weight next Monday when he goes in for his elective surgery. I want to get him fixed before he starts marking his territory.

Sara likes to play with him but after a while she wants to be left alone. It is hard to play with a puppy when you have a bum knee. I do know that she is happy to have some canine companionship again.

The boys love Ricky. The only part they don't like about him right now is he doesn't realize his own strength. His favorite game to play is "Let's knock over David." I hope he will figure out soon that the boys are part of the litter.

Time for me to go start the day's schoolwork with Chris. Enjoy the pictures of Ricky!

Happy Birthday Tim!

In other news, David is sick again. Poor kid had two rounds of the stomach flu and now he has a fever and a runny nose. I had to call in tonight and my boss informed me that missing tonight means that it is starting to get excessive. <sigh> The last time I called in was the Mon & Tues before Thanksgiving because David had his first round of the stomach flu. I don't think 3 days is all that excessive. The boys weren't sick up until November. I think my boss is just under a lot of stress lately. Hopefully things will get better for her.

Only 19 more days till Christmas. Thankfully we are almost done shopping.
